ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Sophomore guard Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS) of the University of Michigan men's basketball team became U-M's first National Player of the Year since 1996 after Sports Illustrated selected him as its National Player of the Year and to its All-America first team today (Tuesday, March 19).

He is a finalist for several national awards, including Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year Award, John R. Wooden National Player of the Year Award, Bob Cousy Award for Nation's Top Point Guard and John R. Wooden All-America Team. He is a top 30 finalist for the Naismith National Player of the Year Award
