ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball program announced it has received a National Letter of Intent from 6-6 forward Anthony Wright of Sterling, Va., for the upcoming 2006-07 season.

With the signing of Wright, the Wolverines now have three additions to the roster next season after DeShawn Sims, a 6-8 forward from Detroit, Mich., and K'len Morris, a 6-4 wing from Grand Blanc, Mich., signed during the early signing period in November.

Wright, who has averaged 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and a steal per game in his career, spent the last three seasons playing at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., under Coach Steve Smith. Over those past three years, Wright has been a member of Oak Hill teams that have won two USA Today national high school championships (2004 and 2005) after closing out the season with the No. 1 high school ranking. Oak Hill was the national runner-up in 2006 after setting a school record with 40 wins.

As a senior Wright averaged a career-best 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He shot 56 percent from the field, 39 percent on three-point field goals and 72 percent on free throws.

The Wolverines lose seven players from their 2005-06 roster, as Amadou Ba, Graham Brown, Hayes Grooms, Sherrod Harrell, Daniel Horton, Chris Hunter and Troy Sanchez all concluded their Michigan careers this past season and are on pace for graduation. After a medical redshirt, Lester Abram will return for a fifth-year in 2006-07.
