ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After an anonymous donor's gift to the University of Michigan men's basketball program, head coach Tommy Amaker has announced that returning student tickets holders will have the opportunity to renew their 2003-04 season tickets at no charge.
"Our students are a critical part of our program," said Amaker. "We cannot reach our goals without their support and spirit. We wanted to extend to our entire 'Maize Rage' section an opportunity to support us without any cost to them. Through this generous donation, we are thrilled to be able to do that."
All students who had season tickets last year are eligible for the no charge bleacher seating. They need to renew their student ticket package online or in person at the U-M Ticket Office by Sept. 30. If the student ticket holder qualifies, the $115 charge for the 2003-04 season package will be refunded to the student.
After the Sept. 30 deadline, if there are remaining bleacher seats available, all other student ticket holders will be put into a lottery to receive bleacher seats and a refund of the charge. There are a total of 477 student bleacher seats at Crisler Arena.
Michigan is the first team in the Big Ten Conference and one of only a select few nationally to make free basketball tickets available to its student body.
