Michigan Awards Full Scholarships to Three Seniors
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball team announced fifth-year senior Mike Gotfredson (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South HS) and seniors Rotolu Adebiyi (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) and Herb Gibson (Taylor, Mich./Truman HS) have been awarded full scholarships for the 2001-02 academic year.

"We are excited and honored to award scholarships to Mike, Ro and Herb," said U-M head coach Tommy Amaker. "Their dedication and efforts have been a tremendous asset to the program, and they are most deserving of this honor."

Gotfredson enters his third season with the Wolverines after transferring to Michigan from Calvin College in 1999. Gotfredson, a two-time recipient of the Steve Grote Hustle Award, has played in 13 career games for the Wolverines. He started in his first game for the Wolverines at Oakland (Nov. 17, 2000) and scored his first points for the Maize and Blue on a three-pointer against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 30, 2000).

Along with Chris Young (Plymouth, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) and Leon Jones (Battle Creek, Mich./Winchendon Prep, Conn.), Adebiyi was named one of the Wolverine captains for the 2001-02 season. He has played in eight career games, scoring his first points on a layup against Morris Brown (Dec. 23, 2000).

Gibson has been a key player on the Michigan practice squad over the past three seasons. He has played in 16 career games and scored his first points as a junior at Duke (Dec. 9, 2000) on a pair of free throws.
