ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball head coach John Beilein announced today (Friday, Sept. 18) the schedule and guest speakers for the 2009 Michigan Basketball Coaches Clinic, which will be held at Crisler Arena on Saturday, Oct. 31. Highlighting this year's clinic will be Grand Valley State head coach Ric Wesley and Penn State Erie Behrend College head coach Dave Niland.
The clinic registration will be held in the Junge Family Champions Center, and Beilein will begin with opening remarks in Crisler Arena. Wesley will open the 2009 clinic with a discussion on "High Post Offense," followed by Niland's presentation on "The Defensive Factory." Coach Beilein will close the lectures with a discussion on "Passing Drills to Reduce Turnovers."
Following the adidas luncheon and social break, Beilein and the 2009-10 Wolverines will hold a team practice with concentration on individual skill development and team building drills. The clinic will conclude with a final question/answer period with Beilein.
Coaches can pre-register for the clinic at a cost of $50 if received by Friday, Oct. 23. Registrations received after Oct. 24 will be $60. There will be a special staff rate for two or more coaches attending from the same school -- $40 for pre-registered coaches and $50 for coaches registering after Oct. 23.
