Court Vision with C.J. Lee: The Final Week of Preparations

Court Vision with C.J. Lee
TUESDAY, OCT.14 - The Final Week of Preparations

Before we can practice on Friday, each member of the team has to complete a number of preseason tests. Yesterday, we had our mile test and a few basketball related tests like 50 three-pointers in five minutes, timed Miken drills and timed ball handling drills.

A summer's worth of work boils down to a week's worth of testing. It's simple, if you have put in the time to reach the goals, you will make them. The one thing you cannot do is panic because it will throw off your concentration. The pressure is on guys this week and that is a good thing.

So far our team has responded very well to the testing. The mile test I believe set the stage for us and spring-boarded us into our other basketball tests. The mile test seems wears on the psyche of our entire team but you wouldn't have known it from watching us run yesterday. The guards had to make it in 5:30 and the big's had to make it in 5:45. Nobody had any problems and we didn't just make the time, we beat the time.

Today we have media day and we will finish up the rest of our basketball testing. This morning we had our last 6:45 a.m. movement training of the preseason with Coach (Mike) Curtis. The thing I am most proud of right now in terms of our team is that we have not backed into the finish line.

Sometimes people tend to coast into the finish line because we our coming to the end of this stage of our season. We still seem focused and we are still trying to get the most out of the last days of preseason.
