The Bartelstein Blog: Pumpkin Carving, Paranormal Activity, Ghostwriter
Josh Bartelstein

Oct. 28, 2011

Hello blogosphere it is I, Evan "the great" Smotrycz.

I have been asked by Josh to do a special piece in light of Hallows Eve.

The other day I realized I have never carved a pumpkin, I vaguely remember watching my parents carve pumpkins when I was really young, but I have never done one myself. I am trying to organize a pumpkin carving with anyone that will join.

I am not big on being scared though, I can't watch scary movies. It seems as though everyone on the team outside of Josh and I could not wait to see the new Paranormal Activity movie. I am only a fan of comedy movies and would never pay to be scared, but to each his own.

I think that the biggest fan of the movie was by far J-Mo (Jordan Morgan). For a good week after the movie came out, that's all he would talk about. Due to his elongated rants on how scary the movie was, a few different debates on whether or not ghosts are real took place in the locker room. Eso (Akunne) ran the point in these discussions offering many different possibilities of thought.

On another note, practice has been going well. Everyone has been working hard and taking personal accountability in order to get ready for the season. We seem to be in good shape and shooting the ball very well.

This is probably the most exciting part of the season for me -- for the most part preseason is over and games are about to start. It will be nice to play against people who aren't on our team. All summer we have been playing pickup games against each other and we finally get to play other teams. It will be nice to get a look at the new Player Development Center. I know our coaches have already moved in and say it's amazing, but I have yet to catch even the slightest glimpse of anything.

The suspense is killing me, but I have no doubt that it will be worth the wait.

I know that my blogging skills are way behind Josh's so please do not compare me to a seasoned veteran. I know Josh gets rave reviews, so much so that whenever a new Bartelstein blog is released my mom calls me and proceeds to tell me how he should be in journalism.

Seeing as I am now in somewhat of a position of power now I have to take advantage. I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know that I have the best fantasy team and am not worried about any of the competition.

I have Tom Brady leading the way and (knock on wood) do not expect him to lose again anytime soon, especially to a team like the Bills. Josh's team stinks and he continues to blame it on injury problems, yet he continues to call himself a "fantasy guru." I will stop at that at the risk of abusing my power.

We have a great group of guys who are hungry for wins and blessed to be playing in the Maize and Blue. I can't wait to see and hear our fans at our first real game in the new Crisler Arena.
