Leading By Example
Tri-captains Rotolu Adebiyi, Leon Jones and Chris Young saw significant minutes in the 94-68 Michigan win, as Adebiyi played a personal-best 19 minutes, Jones saw 31 and Young 35 minutes. All three captains were on the floor for the first time this preseason with 8:11 remaining in the first half.
The Wolverine defense held the EA All-Stars to their lowest point total in the exhitbition season by allowing only 68 points. EA was also held to a first half-low 28 points. The All-Stars' previous lows were 33 in the first half against Missouri (Nov. 3) and 74 total against Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Oct. 31).
Michigan's three freshmen -- Chuck Bailey, Marcus Bennett and Dommanic Ingerson -- all worked their way into the game by the end of the first half. Ingerson led his class with 11 points, shooting 33 percent (2-6) from three-point range. Bailey was the leading freshman rebounder as he pulled down seven boards to go along with his nine points on 3-of-5 shooting.
Going, Going, Groninger
Junior shooting guard Gavin Groninger turned in a game-high 29 points in 27 minutes of action against the EA All-Stars. He finished 9-of-14 from the floor and went 7-of-11 from behind the arc. Groninger's career regular-season scoring high is a 20-point performance against Western Michigan (11/21/00).
Senior center Chris Young tied his personal best of three blocks against the EA All-Stars. He also blocked three shots on four previous occasions.
Former U-M frontcourt fixture Josh Asselin made his return to Crisler Arena with the EA All-Stars, reuniting the graduated senior with old post mate Chris Young. In nine minutes Asselin scored four points and had three rebounds, while the younger Young posted 15 points with five boards and three blocks. Asselin's return was cut short with 5:44 remaining in the game when the big man collected his fifth foul.
Three Points Are Better
The Maize and Blue hoisted 31 three-pointers, connecting on 13. Gavin Groninger led the way, going 7-of-13 from outside, while Leon Jones and Dommanic Ingerson added two treys apiece.
Senior wingman Leon Jones led the Wolverines with nine rebounds, seven of which came off the defensive glass. Jones' career rebounding high is seven against Indiana (2/21/99) and Northwestern (1/19/00). To go along with his nine rebounds Jones dropped in 19 points, second only to Gavin Groninger's 29.

New head coach Tommy Amaker was at the helm of the Wolverines for the first time on Sunday (Nov. 4) as the Maize and Blue tipped off the exhibition season with a 94-68 win over the EA All-Stars.
