ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball head coach John Beilein announced today (Wednesday, Nov. 9) the signing of forward Glenn "Tre" Robinson III (St. John, Ind./Lake Central HS) to a National Letter of Intent in the November early signing period. Robinson's signing is the second for the Wolverines during the early period; forward Mitch McGary (Chesterton, Ind./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) signed his NLI this morning.
"Glenn has a passion and devotion to the game of basketball that has driven his development significantly over this past year," said Beilein. "He is first and foremost a great teammate and is very coachable. The combination of his explosiveness and unselfishness, along with his expanding skill set, makes him a perfect fit for Michigan basketball."
Robinson, who is rated No. 34 in the Class of 2012 by Rivals.com, blossomed in his junior season at Lake Central High School, averaging 22.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals under Coach Dave Mulausnic. He helped the Indians advance to the Class 4A Sectional semifinal while earning his second straight All-Duneland Conference, all-area and team MVP honors. As a sophomore, he averaged 16.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Robinson, who is the son of former NBA All-Star and Purdue Boilermaker Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson, has made two straight trips to the IBCA Top 100 and was named to the Core Six Player team at the 2011 IBCA Junior All-Star Game.
