The University of Michigan men's basketball team begins the 2008-09 regular season by playing host to the Ann Arbor regional of the first two rounds of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 11-12, at Crisler Arena. The Wolverines will open by hosting Michigan Tech in Tuesday's second game at 7 p.m. In the earlier contest, Northeastern will take on IUPUI at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, the losers from Tuesday's contests will meet in the consolation game at 5 p.m. and the winner's of Tuesday's matchups will meet at 8 p.m. in the regional final for a chance to advance to the championship rounds, Nov. 20-21, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

U-M's Tuesday night contest with Michigan Tech and Wednesday night's regional final will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Both of Michigan's contests will be available throughout the state of Michigan on the Michigan Sports Network or worldwide on the internet with audio and live stats at MGoBlue.com.

The Maize and Blue has played just one regular-season game against any of the three teams coming to Crisler Arena for the 2K Sports Classic. U-M met IUPUI on Jan. 4, 2003, with the Wolverines winning an 84-79 decision at Crisler Arena. U-M and Michigan Tech are not strangers, however, as the two schools have met in three exhibition contests in the past six seasons, with the Maize and Blue winning all three. The last time they faced one another was Nov. 5, 2006, in an 85-50 Michigan victory.
