Nov. 13, 2010

It's that time of the year again.

Yes, college basketball is about to kick into full swing, the NFL now plays games on Thursday nights (didn't know this in time for my fantasy matchup) and yes the holiday season is right around the corner. You walk into any store now and the holiday sales are up, the red and green ornaments. It just makes you smile.

For some people on our team, their presents came early. I'm specifically talking about Jordan Morgan. By the way, was I right or was I right with my prediction of J-Mo coming through big. I know it was one game and it was an exhibition but still 15 rebounds is a huge amount against anyone.

Anyway, J-Mo got a brand new car about a month ago as his Christmas came early. I literally can't tell you how excited he was. Since the day the season ended last year all I would hear about was the countdown for his new car to arrive. Two people may have been almost as excited as J-Mo. Darius (Morris) because they are roommates and that means he has a ride everywhere and Zack (Novak) because now he never has to pick up the freshmen ever again.

I was a little skeptical with Jordan getting a new car. For one, (Matt) Vogrich lent his car to Jordan for a day last summer and it came back with no gas pedal. I kid you not, Jordan literally stepped on the gas so hard, if completely fell off. For this reason, no one ever would let Jordan borrow their car to drive. He was banned.

Before we can continue with Jordan's car, I must first tell you a quick story about Manny's (Harris) car. One day last year after practice, for some reason Manny let Matt and I take his care back to the dorms. There was no reason why we needed it and no reason for him to give it to us, but we decided to take it.

This was the dumbest choice ever, we had nowhere to park it and we didn't need it, I clearly remember telling Matt this was going to be a disaster. Sure enough, I was right because we couldn't get the car to go into reverse and the brakes didn't work real well. I was pretty sure we weren't going to make it back to the dorm.

After about an hour of driving in a circle we finally park the car. To make a long story short, when we went back to get the car in the morning it was gone. Literally, nowhere in sight, peaced out, adios. We had somehow managed in a span of 12 hours to mess up the brakes and gotten Manny's car towed. Good work for two freshmen, you think we were a little scared to go to practice the next day?

Now back to J-Mo's car. So not to long ago Jordan showed up in a beautiful Trailblazer. It was shiny, clean and ready for Jordan to wreck havoc in. He gave me a ride a couple days after he got it and I was trying to roll down the window. Next thing I know, Jordan is screaming don't touch the window you are going to ruin my tints. He was so mad; it was like his tints were the most important thing ever. It would be like breaking your parents TV or something. At the time, I had zero idea what he was talking about. I'm a kid from the suburbs of Chicago, we don't have tints. Anyway, I can assure everyone his tints aren't ruined and I know no more than I ever wanted to know about tinted windows.

Another problem arose over this weekend for the new Trailblazer. As you all know, football Saturday in Ann Arbor can get a little crazy and finding a place to park is no easy task. Well, J-Mo decides it is best to park at our house and then just walk to Crisler for practice. (Please note, west quad where Jordan lives is closer to Crisler than our house but he still wanted to park at our pad, I can't explain this part to you) Anyway, there are no spots left at our complex and he decides to park illegally on the street since no one was going to check on a day like today.

Funny thing happened on our walk back from practice. That beautiful, shiny Trailblazer was MIA. At first no one realized this, but as we approached the house, I ask Jordan where exactly did you park? He proceeded to say some words I wont' share and launch his water and Gatorade bottle at our garage door.

I couldn't stop laughing and just walked inside. Next thing I know I hear Zack screaming for Jordan, isn't that you car as a tow truck is just driving down the street. It was like out of a movie, Jordan starts running after the tow truck trying to get him to stop. Sure enough, Jordan got him to drop the car for a much smaller fee.

It is now getting late which means I need to go to sleep. It is Free Throw Friday with the Michigan basketball team. This means we will all make 100 free throws before most people start their day of work.

Lastly, I promised my three younger sisters I would give them a shout out and my mom was getting made at me because this is blog 8 and there has been zero mention.

So Morgan, Courtney and Kirby I'm very excited to see you all this weekend as they are coming to watch us play USC-Upstate.

So long for now... see you at Crisler!
