Jones Out Two to Three Weeks After Following Surgery

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior tri-captain Leon Jones (Battle Creek, Mich./Winchendon Prep, Conn.) of the University of Michigan men's basketball team could miss up to three weeks after undergoing surgery on Tuesday (Nov. 20) to repair a torn capsule in his left thumb.

Jones dislocated his thumb during practice Sunday (Nov. 18), causing the capsule in his left thumb to tear. U-M's Dr. Dean Lewis performed the surgery Tuesday afternoon to repair the damaged area. Jones will be in a cast for up to two weeks before starting rehab. Once back, he will wear a protective brace on the thumb.

Jones had not missed a game in four seasons for the Wolverines, playing in 89 consecutive games for the Maize and Blue. For his career he is averaging 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
