All I can say is after spending two days here it is going to be hard going back to Ann Arbor. The weather is perfect and just being in the sun puts you in a good mood! Now I want to provide you all with a quick update before I run off the film.
So far the trip has been a lot of fun.
We have had two very spirited practices that have focused on preparing for Memphis, but also fixing some things that we need to do better. At this point I think we are all ready to play Memphis and get this tournament going.
Besides basketball, we have had some time to explore all Hawaii has to offer. A bunch of us went snorkeling today and saw some fish and even a black crab. Tim was extremely excited to see the crab.
They also have a cliff that you can jump off of and everyone on our team was scared to try it, (probably the right move) but Evan’s sister stepped right up and showed us all how it’s done.
We played some water football in the pool where I found out my arm has become awful. I’m not saying it was very good in the first place, but now my ball is flying all over kind like Tim Tebow. It is actually very disheartening.
Another very important part of our trip that didn’t involve basketball was the EA Sports video game challenge. That took place last night with every team sending two players up to play NBA Jam. We were represented by Evan (Smotrycz) and Tim (Hardaway Jr.), both who claimed to be excellent at NBA Jam.
Of course we played Memphis in the first round, and it was a thrilling game. After getting off to a very slow start, Evan and Tim kicked into high gear with Evan draining three after three. We had a seven point lead with about a minute left, but some bad turnovers and a clutch three led to a tough defeat. We will be more than ready to play them Monday when the game actually counts.
With that I’m off to watch some film and talk about our keys to beating Memphis tomorrow.
Make sure you guys all tune in tomorrow at 3pm on ESPN. I’ll try to write again tomorrow night!
