Fresh off a runner-up finish in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer last week, the University of Michigan men's basketball team returns to Crisler Arena on Tuesday night (Nov. 25) to host Norfolk State at 8:30 p.m.
The contest will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and will be available via radio throughout the state of Michigan on the Michigan Sports Network or worldwide on the internet at MGoBlue.com.
Sophomore guard Manny Harris(Detroit, Mich./Redford HS) continues to lead the Wolverines as he broke the 2K Sports Classic tournament scoring record with 96 points in the four tournament games. Harris broke the previous record of 92 set last year by Chris Douglas-Roberts of Memphis. Coming off the bench in all four games thus far, U-M's "Sixth Man" junior forward DeShawn Sims(Detroit, Mich./Pershing HS) is U-M's second-leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points per contest and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game.
Tuesday's contest will be the first-ever meeting between Michigan and Norfolk State, members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). U-M is 8-0 all-time against current members of the MEAC.
Norfolk State comes to Crisler with a 1-1 record, having defeated Longwood (Nov. 16) on the road, 81-74, and dropping a 74-58 decision to William & Mary (Nov. 19) at home. The Spartans are led by senior guard Michael Deloach, who is averaging 25.5 points per game.
