For the first time this season, the University of Michigan men's basketball team (5-1, 0-0 Big Ten) hits the road for a game on its opponent's home floor, traveling to face Maryland on Wednesday night (Dec. 3) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in College Park, Md. Game time between the Wolverines and Terrapins is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU and can be heard on radio throughout the state of Michigan on the Michigan Sports Network or worldwide on the internet at MGoBlue.com.

Michigan is coming off a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Savannah State last Saturday (Nov. 29). The Wolverines fell behind by 20 at the half against the Tigers before coming back to force overtime and then capture the win, 66-64, on a buzzer-beater by junior forward DeShawn Sims(Detroit, Mich./Pershing HS). Sims tied his career highs in both points and rebounds in the contest en route to his second double-double of the season (23 points, 12 rebounds). Sophomore guard Manny Harris(Detroit, Mich./Redford HS) added 22 for the Maize and Blue, including a perfect 14-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Michigan will be making its eighth all-time appearance in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. U-M currently owns a 3-4 record at the event.

Maryland enters Wednesday's matchup with a 4-2 record after a fourth-place finish in the Old Spice Classic that included an 80-62 victory over Michigan State. The Terrapins are led by Greivis Vasquez, who is averaging 17.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Maryland has appeared in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on nine occasions and owns a 6-3 record.

The contest between the Wolverines and Terrapins features two of the winningest coaches in the country. Michigan's John Beilein has won 566 games in his collegiate coaching career, while Maryland's Gary Williams has amassed 608 career wins.

Michigan holds a 3-2 overall record against Maryland with the last meeting coming in the BB&T Classic in Washington, D.C., an 82-51 Terrapin victory (Dec. 2, 2000). Michigan and Maryland have never met in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
