Michigan Coach Tommy Amaker
Opening statement ... "It's a tough loss for us and we're obviously disappointed with the outcome of this game. I have to give credit to Boston. They did an outstanding job and put us in some tough situations. They got us down and made it a possession-by-possession game. One of leading scorers, Dion Harris, had a very tough shooting evening. We talked before this and I said that I thought that two guys would have to score for us tonight, and they were Dion and Chris Hunter. We weren't able to get that from Dion, but hopefully we can pick ourselves up as we head out on the road to Los Angeles."
On Michigan's 19 turnovers against Boston ... "It's very disappointing because we work so hard in practice against exactly what we saw tonight in the game. As a coach, anytime you prepare for something and you don't execute, it's disappointing. We did a poor job. Our post players were turning it over inside, we didn't collapse at times and we didn't kick it out at times when we needed to."
U-M Junior Forward Chris Hunter
On the game ... "It was a tough game against a tough team. They ran their sets well. We came out kind of lackadaisical. We didn't come out with the intensity that we needed to and down the stretch we just didn't have enough to pull it out. They continued to execute and we continued to lose assignments and get out of control at times and that is what hurt us."
On struggling with the press and defending the perimeter ... "They got their shots to fall early and when you get in a groove like that, shots tend to fall for you [for the rest of the game]. Their full-court press kind of slowed us down and we didn't attack it like we should have. We got lackadaisical in the press and we should've just attacked it and made strong decisions but we got careless with the ball early and that spilled over into the second half as well."
U-M Sophomore Forward Brent Petway
On the loss ... "Boston University came in here and had a good game. Their shooters were hitting their shots and they played hard. It was a good game for them."
On what the team needs to go to get back on track ... "Get back on the practice court and get back to what we want to do as a team. Once we get back on the practice court we'll be alright."
On positives taken from the loss ... "Of course there are always some positives. Coming back in the game, Chris Hunter had a good game for us, posting up strong."
Boston University Coach Dennis Wolff
On the game ... "Well, I think any time that you can come in here and win, we feel great for us. I feel bad, for what they're going through, obviously, they don't have they team they would like to have. I think that's a huge part of the game. But for us and where we're at, I was proud of how hard our kids competed with the size difference, and I think we were finishing offensively when we needed to and made some big shots -- particularly threes -- when the shot clock was running down."
