ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball team is ranked 24th in the latest Associated Press poll released today (Monday, Dec. 22), marking the first time the Wolverines have cracked the AP Top 25 since Feb. 6, 2006. Michigan is just outside the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25, listing third among others receiving votes.

The Wolverines are off to an 8-2 start this season following Saturday's (Dec. 20) 89-76 win against Oakland at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Earlier this season, U-M picked up wins over two teams ranked No. 4 nationally at the time, defeating UCLA (55-52, Nov. 20) at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Duke (81-73, Dec. 6) in Ann Arbor. It marks the first time since 1986-87 that the Maize and Blue has defeated two top-five teams in the same regular season, and Michigan is the only school in the country with multiple wins over top-five opponents this season.

Michigan returns to action tonight when it hosts Florida Gulf Coast at Crisler Arena. Game time between the Wolverines and Eagles is scheduled for 7 p.m., and live video will be available at BigTenNetwork.com.
