ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The nation's top recruit, defensive end Rashan Gary, led a class of 28 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to join the University of Michigan football program on Wednesday (Feb. 3). The Wolverines' 2016 signing class is projected to list among the top five nationally by many of the recruiting services once all of the rankings are finalized later on Wednesday.

The announcements for many of the Class of 2016 signees were made official during the "Signing of the Stars" event at Hill Auditorium, a celebration of these future Wolverines to benefit the Chad Tough Foundation. Harbaugh and a variety of sports figures, artists and celebrities introduced the student-athletes who signed NLIs to attend U-M and play football for the Wolverines starting this fall.

The first-of-its-kind event generated more than $110,000 for the Chad Tough Foundation. The final total will not be determined for a few days as donations continue to come in to the organization. The foundation was started by Tammi and Jason Carr to raise awareness and fund research for pediatric brain tumors and Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

This year's class includes seven early enrollees already attending classes at the University of Michigan: linebacker Devin Bush, running backs Kingston Davis and Kareem Walker, defensive end Carlo Kemp, tight end Sean McKeon, wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell and quarterback Brandon Peters.

Gary, a consensus five-star prospect, led a group of 15 Wolverines listed among the ESPN300. Michigan had a total of 17 four-star prospects according ESPN, with Gary listing as one of nine five-star performers in the nation.
