• The Wolverines worked out in sunny, 60-degree temperatures on the outdoor fields at Schembechler Hall during today's non-padded practice.

• Michigan welcomed seven new enrollees during the winter semester and all of them participated in their first practice today: QB Devin Gardner (#7), RB Stephen Hopkins (#33), WR Jeremy Jackson (#17), WR Ricardo Miller (#82), OL Christian Pace (#64), WR Jerald Robinson (#83) and RB Austin White (#23).

• After practicing at wide receiving during his redshirt freshman year, Cam Gordon moved to safety from wide receiver and switched numbers from #84 to #4.

• Michigan will be without the services of starting nose tackle Mike Martin during spring practice due to offseason shoulder surgery. In addition, safety and special teams performer Zac Johnson will miss spring due to shoulder surgery.

• Head coach Rich Rodriguez added that four Wolverines -- wide receiver Junior Hemingway, linebacker Brandon Herron, center David Molk and running back Vincent Smith -- will miss spring drills due to knee surgeries. Rodriguez mentioned the possibility of getting Hemingway back for a portion of practice later in spring.

• Quarterback Nick Sheridan elected to forgo his senior year and pursue a career in coaching. He will graduate this spring and has begun looking for a graduate assistant coaching position.

• During his media session, Rodriguez mentioned that secondary and outside receiver position were two areas of concern in addition to special teams. The Wolverines lost both their starting punter and placekicker.

• Junior/sophomore slot receiver Terrence Robinson switched from jersey #7 to #8 this spring.

• Sophomore Teric Jones moved from cornerback to safety during the spring.
