ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- EA Sports unveiled today (Tuesday, April 23) the cover art of NCAA Football '14, which features former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach). In mid-March, EA Sports announced that Robinson had been voted by fans as the cover champion for the upcoming version of the popular video game, which is set to hit shelves on Tuesday, July 9.
Robinson joins Charles Woodson (1999) and Desmond Howard (2006) as former Wolverines to grace the cover of the game.
Fan voting began through Facebook on Dec. 5 with 126 schools vying for the cover and concluded on March 8 after nearly six million total votes. Michigan advanced each round until the quarterfinals, where each of the eight remaining schools was paired with a cover athlete. Robinson was unveiled as Michigan's cover representative, and after advancing through the quarterfinals and leading the semifinals, Robinson was named a finalist along with Texas A&M's Ryan Swope on Feb. 26. Fans then voted Robinson as the NCAA Football '14 cover champion after voting concluded.
Robinson is Michigan's all-time leader in total yards (10,745) and touchdowns (91). In his final game against South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, Robinson set the NCAA career record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 4,495.
Robinson and his senior counterparts from Team 133 now turn their attention to the 2013 NFL Draft, which will take place later this week, April 25-27, at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The first round begins on Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The draft will conclude with rounds four through seven on Saturday, beginning at noon.
