ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- As previously announced by the Ann Arbor City Council, Main Street along the west side of Michigan Stadium will be closed to traffic before and during home football games this upcoming season. The decision was made in an effort to enhance overall security around Michigan Stadium.
The city council authorized the closure of four blocks of Main Street along the west side of the stadium to vehicular traffic. The closure will be from Pauline to Stadium Boulevard. Northbound lanes of Main Street will be closed three (3) hours prior to kickoff and southbound lanes will close one (1) hour before game time. This will enable patrons to access neighborhood parking areas west of the stadium.
Traffic will be detoured using Pauline Street and Seventh Avenue. After the game, or at the discretion of the chief of police, barricades will be removed a soon as practical and Main Street will reopened.
