ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football team in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference announced today (Wednesday, Oct. 16) the conference schedule for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
The nine-game conference schedule in 2018 consists of five home games and four on the road, while the Wolverines will host four conference games in 2019 while playing five on the road.
Michigan previously announced a home-and-home series with Arkansas in 2018-19. U-M will host Arkansas at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 1, 2018, with a return trip to Fayetteville, Ark., scheduled for Aug. 31, 2019.
The Maize and Blue will open the 2018 conference schedule by hosting Nebraska on Sept. 22 before traveling to Northwestern on Sept. 29. Michigan then will host back-to-back games at Michigan Stadium -- against Maryland (Oct. 6) and Wisconsin (Oct. 13) -- prior to traveling to in-state rival Michigan State on Oct. 20.
The Wolverines will host Penn State on Nov. 3 before a Nov. 10 road contest at Rutgers. U-M will close its home conference slate with Indiana on Nov. 17 prior to closing the regular season at Ohio State on Nov. 24.
Michigan opens the 2019 conference schedule with three of its first four games on the road. The Wolverines will travel to Wisconsin on Sept. 21 and host Iowa on Oct. 5 prior to contests at Illinois (Oct. 12) and Penn State (Oct. 19).
The Maize and Blue will host Rutgers on Oct. 26, travel to Maryland on Nov. 2 and host Michigan State on Nov. 16. Michigan will complete its road conference schedule at Indiana on Nov. 23 and play Ohio State to close the regular season at the Big House on Nov. 30.
Beginning in 2014, the Big Ten football division alignments will feature Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers in the East Division and Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin in the West Division.
