Finley Earns First Team Academic All-District IV Honors

KENT, Ohio -- Senior punter Adam Finley (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) of the University of Michigan football was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America. Finley and the other all-district first team selections will be considered for the national Academic All-America team.


A second-team all-district selection last season, Finley is a biomedical engineering major with a cumulative GPA of 3.44. He is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference honoree (2001-03) and a four-time U-M Athletic Academic Achievement recipient (2000-03).

Finley is in the midst of a strong senior season for the Wolverines, listing third in the Big Ten and 20th nationally in punting average. He has punted 48 times for 2,068 yards, with a 43.1-yard per punt average. He has 12 punts of 50 or more yards, including a career-long 68-yarder vs. Michigan State (Oct. 30). He has also knocked eight punts inside the opposition's 20-yard line this year.

A three-time Ray Guy Award candidate, Finley has 174 career punts for 7,270 yards (41.8 avg.), with 28 boots of 50 yards or more and 47 punts dropped inside the opposition's 20-yard line. He is third in Michigan history in career punts, fourth in yardage and second in punting average.
