Gordon, Lewan Named to Freshman All-America Second Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Redshirt freshman safety/linebacker Cameron Gordon (Detroit, Mich./Inkster) and redshirt freshman offensive tackle Taylor Lewan (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) of the University of Michigan football team were named to the CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America second team on Tuesday (Dec. 14).

Gordon has started in all 12 games this season and is third on the team in tackles with 73. He also has recorded two interceptions and fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a touchdown in the road win at Purdue on Nov. 13. Gordon started the season at free safety but has since transitioned to hybrid linebacker.

Lewan has played in 10 games this season, including eight starts at left tackle, blocking for the nation`s sixth-best offense. He made his career debut on the goal-line package in the road win at Notre Dame on Sept. 11 and recorded his first career start two weeks later against Bowling Green on Sept. 25.

Michigan plays No. 21 Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl on New Years Day (Jan. 1, 2011) at 1:30 p.m. in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be shown to a nationally televised audience by ESPN2.
