Thursday, June 13, 2013 -- Four Wolverines made the cut at the 2013 Michigan Open held at the Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Mich., as former Wolverine Matt Thompson (2009-12) posted the highest U-M finish tying for sixth at 282 (70-70-70-72). Other U-M finishes included Scott Hayes (1998-2001), tying for 28th (71-73-71-78/293), Randy Erskine (1968-70) tying for 53rd (77-73-73-76/299) and Andrew Yeager tying for 58th (75-73-74-79/301). Other U-M players who did not make the cut were Jimmy Wisinski (76-76/152), Noori Hyun (77-81/156), Brian Ottenweller (82-77/159) and Matt Felsenfeld (87-86/163). [ Live Scoring ]
Friday, June 7, 2013 -- Tee times and pairings have been set for the 96th Michigan Open at The Orchards Golf Clun in Washington, Mich. A total of eight Wolverines -- two current and six alumni -- will be part of the field. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 -- Chris O'Neill used a round tally of one-over 73 at The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen, Va., to qualify for a spot at both the Virginia State Golf Association Amateur Championship and the State Open of Virginia. The VSGA Am will be played at the Homestead June 25-29in Hot Springs, Va., while the State Open will be played July 18-21 at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 -- Andrew Yeager fired a round of 70 to earn co-medalist honors at the 102nd Michigan Amateur Second Chance Qualifier at the Owosso Country Club in Owosso, Mich. Monday, June 3, 2013 -- Former Michigan golfer Justin Hicks qualified for his fifth U.S. Open after tying for ninth with a 136 total at his sectional qualifier at the Brookside Golf & Country and the Lakes Golf & Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. He opened with a six-under 66 and followed with a two-under 70 to earn one of 15 spots to the PGA major. It marks his fifth overall and third straight U.S. Open appearance -- 2004 (missed cut, 75-71/146); 2008 (t-74th, 68-80-75-75/301); 2011 (t-60th, 74-71-76-71/292) and 2012 (cut, 75-74/149). Wednesday, May 22, 2013 -- For the third consecutive year, incoming freshman Tom Swanson captured the Montana State B state individual title while helping his Loyola Sacred Heart squad to its fifth straight team title. After opening with an even-par 71 at the Eagle Bend Golf Club in Big Fork, Mont., Swanson followed with a one-under 70 to post a 141 total, winning by 11 shots over teammate Justin Galiher (152). Tuesday, May 21, 2013 -- With a round tally of 72, Andrew Yeager tied for sixth at his Michigan Open qualifier held at the Country Club of Lansing in Lansing, Mich. By claiming one of 15 spots at his qualifier, Yeager advances to the Michigan Open, which will be played Monday through Thursday, June 10-13, at the Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Mich. [ Results

Sat-Sun., May 18-20, 2013 -- With a 211 54-hole total, Andrew Yeager was the medalist runner-up at the 2013 West Michigan Amateur Championship at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Ada, Mich. After opening with a round of 71, he followed with a 69 to hold the tournament lead after the first day. In the final round, he posted a 71; however, Tom Werkmeister's final-round 67 helped him to a 210 total and pass Yeager to claim the title by just a single shot. Sat-Mon., May 18-20, 2013 -- Incoming freshman Bryce Evon was the medalist runner-up at the Under-19 Investors Group Junior Spring Classic held ta the Wooden Sticks Golf Club in Uxbridge, Ontario. After opening with rounds of 74 and one-under 71, Evon closed with an even-par 72, including three birdies in his final five holes, to finish second at one-over 217 -- just a shot behind Jake McNulty's even-par 216.
