PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Noori Hyun (Seoul, Korea/Centreville HS [Va.]) and sophomores Chris O'Neill (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run HS) and Brett McIntosh (London, Ontario, Canada/Saunders Secondary School) of the University of Michigan men's golf team were named to the Big Ten's Golfers to Watch list today (Wednesday, Sept. 4).
In two seasons with the Wolverines, Hyun has 18 starts in 19 events while carrying a 77.15 career scoring average. Last season, he started 10 events and won his first collegiate event at the 2013 Detroit Golf Club Invitational, shooting a career-best 68 on two occasions.
O'Neill finished last season leading U-M in five of its 12 events. He closed as the first freshman to lead U-M in scoring average, at 73.96 per round, which is the 14th-best season average in U-M history. He was just the third freshman to post a season average below 74. Starting all 12 events, he led U-M with six top-20 individual finishes.
Classmate McIntosh started all 12 events and was second on U-M with a 74.75 per-round average. He closed with four top-10 finishes last season and posted U-M's lowest round tally with a five-under 66 in the second round of the 2013 NYX Hoosier Invitational.
The Wolverines open their 2013-14 season hosting the Wolverine Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17, at the U-M Golf Course. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the U-M Golf Course.
