He receives the awards, both his second of the season, after placing second in the all-around at the Winter Cup Challenge Saturday (Feb. 9).
In two-day scoring, de los Angeles took second on floor (31.10), ninth on pommel horse (27.80), third on still rings (28.60) and sixth on parallel bars (28.95), and he tied for eighth on high bar (27.35) in addition to his second-place 172.400 in the all-around competition.
With the second-place finish, de los Angeles was between top finisher Jake Dalton and No. 3 finisher Dannel Leyva, both of whom hold spots on the 2012 United States Olympic Team. For his efforts, he was named to the United States National Team for the second time in his career.
He previously took home the honors on Jan. 21 earlier this season. The last Wolverine to take home College Gymnastics Association honors as well as Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors was Syque Caesar (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy), who earned the distinctions on Jan. 28.
The full U-M squad returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 16) against the Ohio State Buckeyes at 2:30 p.m. from St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The meet will be carried live via the Big Ten Network.
