ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The M Den State Street location will host a book signing with Colt Rosenweig, the author of "NEWT: The Father of Michigan Men's Gymnastics," on Friday, March 16, from 3-5 p.m. The following night, U-M will play host to the UIC Flames at 7 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena in the program's final home meet of the season.

Rosenweig, who covered the Michigan men's gymnastics team from 2006-09, wrote the memoir along with Loken prior to his death in late June. Published by Huron River Press, the book retails for $17.95 and can be purchased prior to the signing.

Loken was the head coach for the Wolverines men's gymnastics program for 36 seasons (1948-83). He compiled a 240-71-1 (.771) record during his career, including 12 Big Ten Conference championships. Loken coached 69 individual conference champions during his tenure.

On the national stage, Loken led U-M to the NCAA Championships in 21 of his 36 seasons at the helm. His teams claimed four national championships, winning the team title in 1963 and 1970 and claiming trampoline championships in 1969 and 1970. Loken also tutored 20 individual national champions.

The men's gymnastics training center was named and dedicated in honor of Newt Loken on Jan. 18, 2003.
