ANTWERP, Belgium -- University of Michigan men's gymnast Sam Mikulak (Corona del mar, Calif./Corona del mar) scored a 15.566 in the high bar finals to take fourth at the 2013 World Championships on Sunday (Oct. 6).

The rising senior, up first in the finals rotation, executed his Cassini and Kolman and pulled off his Takamotos with only a small hop on his dismount. He sat in third place until Germany's Fabian Hambuechen scored a 15.933, which knocked him off the podium. Mikulak's score bested his 13.766 he posted in Thursday's all-around final.

Mikulak and the rest of his Wolverine teammates begin NCAA team competition on Dec. 7, as U-M hosts the Maize and Blue Intrasquad meet at 7 p.m. in Cliff Keen Arena.

U-M will host the 2014 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships April 10-12 inside Crisler Center as the squad seeks to defend its 2013 NCAA and Big Ten titles. U-M will play host to NCAAs for the first time since 1971.
