Prior to U-M's exhibition game on Sunday (Oct. 6), goaltender Steve Racine discusses the offseason training regimen, his confidence heading into his sophomore campaign and last season's postseason push.


Ice Hockey Highlights: U-M 1, FSU 1 (SO, W)

The Wolverines skated to a 1-1 tie before prevailing in a shootout against Ferris State in the regular-season finale.


Senior (2015-16)
• Finished sixth in the nation in winning percentage at 20-6-3 (.741) on the season. His .914 save percentage was sixth best in a single season in Michigan Hockey history. Racine was one of 26 nominees for Mike Richter Award (nation's top goalie).
• Named to Big Ten and GLI All-Tournament Teams. Racine finished his Michigan career third in program history with a .909 save percentage
• Made 26 saves in season-opening win vs. Mercyhurst (10/16)
• Made 33 saves in second career shutout vs. Dartmouth (11/27)
• Left game vs. Dartmouth mid-way through first period due to injury (11/28)
• Returned to action at Great Lakes Invitational
• Made 35 saves in 2-1 win over N. Michigan (12/29)
• Earned spot on GLI All-Tournament team after making 27 saves in 4-2 win in championship game against Michigan Tech (12/30)

Junior (2014-15)
• Appeared in 21 games, making a team-high 19 starts
• Had an 11-6-0 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .908 save percentage
• Recorded first win of the season with 31 saves in a 2-1 win against UNH (10/18)
• Made season-high 40 saves in 2-1 win against Michigan Tech in GLI
• Made 22 saves to earn first career shutout vs. Wisconsin (2/27)
• Stopped 27 shots in Big Ten Tournament win vs. Wisconsin (3/19)
• Made 26 saves in B1G Tournament Semifinal win vs. MSU (3/20)
• Made 29 saves in B1G Tournament Championship Game vs. Minnesota (3/21), including all 20 in the first period
• Recipient of the Kretschman Family Scholarship

Sophomore (2013-14)
• In 13 games played, went 7-4-1 with a 2.91 GAA and a .912 Save %
• Made his season debut on 10/10 vs. BC, stopping 20 of 21 shots in a 3-1 win
• Earned the 7-4 win on 10/12 vs. RIT by stopping 42 of 46 shots
• Stopped 19 of 20 shots against UNH on 10/18 before sustaining lower body injury in third period
• Returned to action on 11/16 at UNO, stopping 40 of 43 shots in a 4-3 win

Freshman (2012-13)
• Appeared in 24 games (22 starts) in 2012-13, posting a 12-6-3 record, a 2.65 GAA and a .899 save percentage
• Named to CCHA All-Tournament Team
• Made his U-M debut on 10/12 vs. RIT, turning aside 21 shots in a 7-2 win
• Made a career-high 36 saves on 12/1 at FSU, earning a shootout win
• Helped U-M to only second season sweep of season with two straight wins at Ohio State (Feb. 22-23), tallying at least 25 saves in both starts
• Named CCHA Rookie of the Week stopping 46 of 48 shots plus 3 shootout opportunities in regular season series finale vs FSU series
• Started every game of the CCHA tournament in net, as U-M swept NMU and WMU in the first two rounds, defeated Miami in the semi-final and fell to ND in the championship game

Junior Team
• Appeared in 15 games with Georgetown of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in 2011-12, posting a 15-0-0 record with four shutouts, a 1.66 GAA and a .938 save percentage
• Tied for second in the OJHL in shutouts and ranked 17th in wins despite only playing in 15 games
• Appeared in 12 United States Hockey Leagues games with Chicago, Waterloo and Lincoln from 2009 to 2011
