Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game overall ... "There were a lot of question marks going into the game about (Shawn) Hunwick. Hunwick had a slight headache this morning and he wasn't feeling himself, so we decided he shouldn't play and (Adam) Janecyk came in. There were a lot of question marks about Janecyk and I think he showed us that he can play and give us a chance. I don't think we gave him a good start in the first period, but we got it going and we were playing better. It was a hard-fought game. You knew it would be a close game. It's disappointing to give up the lead in the third period."
On power-play struggles... "It has really been a work in progress, but there is not a lot of progress. We might have to change the name from power play to something else."
On Adam Janecyk's improvement ... "I thought he was more in-sync with the game. He was more jerky last night. Tonight he was smooth; he was in position. He looked more confident."
On special teams play ... "I think it is more mental. It's disappointing when you don't generate more offense when you're on the power play. The other team gets life when they kill the penalty. If you're on the right side of it you get life, and if you're not it is discouraging."
U-M Senior Forward Luke Glendening
On the frustration of losing shootouts ... "It's frustrating not to win them, obviously. It's nice when you do, like when we were up at Northern. But we really gave this game away. (Adam) Janecyk really stood tall for us when we needed him and we just threw that one away."
On the weekend ... "It was a step forward last night, but I can't say that tonight is a step forward for us. We threw that one away. We were up 2-1 in the third period; we have to have those games. Janecyk came in, played huge for us all night, and to give that one away hurts."
On tonight's outcome ... "I just think to be up one goal in the third period, you know you're not going to win all of them, but you know you've got to win the little battles. And we did some of that tonight, but we weren't burying our chances, and then that's frustrating. You know, it's a tie nationally, but for it to be so close it's frustrating."
