Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's result ... "I've always said, some nights the puck goes in and some nights it doesn't. Tonight it was the other way around. The puck went in for them and it did not go in for us. Their goalie played better than our goalie and that was the game."
On Penn State's offensive success ... "They just shot pucks on the net. I don't think Zach (Nagelvoort) was ready for at least two of them, just pucks that came out of the corner and went in off him or off somebody. Those goals hurt you, and obviously they give the home team a lift."
On Steve Racine's play ... "I knew he would (play well). He came in and he played sharp and we just didn't give him enough support."
Sophomore goaltender Steve Racine
On his mindset coming into the game in the first period ... "It's never how you want to get in there. But coach told me to go in and all I can do is try to help us get back in the game but unfortunately we didn't."
On if he felt he made a good impression in his first game action since Dec. 28 ... "I hope so, but at the same time it's not my decision who plays in net. All I can do is play my best when I get in there, and hopefully I did that tonight."
Senior defenseman Mac Bennett
On what the slow start did to the team's momentum at the beginning of the game ... "It kills it. There is no momentum. We knew we had to come out hard and they did. They got those three goals early and if you don't score goals you can't win the hockey game."
On how the team will rebound from the loss ... "We have to have a short memory. We've got to put this behind us and just move forward. I think everyone's mature enough on this team to put this in the past. We'll just leave it here and move on."
