Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On defensive turnovers affecting the game ... "They played hard-checking hockey and I thought we were careless with the puck and they forced turnovers. It was a weekend of turnovers and both goalies made some great saves. I think both teams were lucky at times. We were lucky they didn't score more and they were lucky we didn't score more."
On the new defensive pairings affecting the game ... "I don't think it was the defensive pairings. I know we had two new defensive pairings tonight, but I don't think that it had anything to do with it. It was our forwards as much as our defense."
On the significance of Senior Night ... "I know they're dialed in every night. But this has to be a special night. And especially when things weren't going well. Is it a coincidence that Luke Glendening gets a goal and an assist tonight, on senior night? I don't think so. I don't think it was a coincidence that Carl Hagelin saved the night last year. So it's a special night for those players, and they're the only ones that know what it feels like. The other players, they don't get it yet. It was a big win for Michigan, it was a great play by Luke Glendening to A.J. (Treais) to score the winning goal, but in the meantime it was a hard-fought game. Northern played a strong road game and they came from behind and we took that lead with a power-play goal and I thought that was a huge goal and then they got that back. There wasn't much to choose between the teams."
U-M Senior Forward Luke Glendening
On Senior Night ... "It's just really good for the team. I'm glad I can help in any way that I can, but I'm surely glad that the team won. It's kind of weird to think that this could be my last game here, but I'm just really glad that the team did well tonight and we pulled out a victory."
On what the team did to come out on top both nights ... "I think yesterday we were fortunate in a lot of things. I don't think we really played our game. Coach just talked about will and I don't think we had a lot of that in our game yesterday. I thought that today was a lot different. I thought we played hard, we let up two goals which were unfortunate, we played with passion that we didn't have yesterday and I think that that was a big difference today."
U-M Senior Defenseman Greg Pateryn
On Senior Night ... "It's bittersweet. When you think of all the memories that you had here and you realize that you're going to miss this place and everything that has to go with it. All the teammates that we've had, the coaching staff, the atmosphere. But we also get to move on to do bigger and better things in life."
On the impact Senior Night has on the team's effort ... "I don't think it was just the night, I think guys had their heads down a lot more tonight. The defensemen were giving them really good passes. I saw my opportunities and I tried to step up. When I have a few big hits like that it kind of gets everyone else going also. That's kind of what I was trying to do."
On limiting defensive turnovers ... "That's just work ethic. Just winning battles on the puck, having support down low. I think there were times we did it really well and there were times when we struggled, at the end of a shift or something. But it's something that you just have to go out and find within, and I think the guys worked hard tonight, but we have to bring every night."
