Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the team's penalty kill ... "I don't know if there was a secret, but it was definitely a factor in the game. I think their numbers might have been 0-for-6, and they have a good power play. So give credit to our defensemen and our forwards for keeping them off the score sheet."
On Michigan getting the lead early ... "I think getting the lead in the game was important for either team. They have been a good team at home, and they have been a good team in recent games. I thought that tonight the first goal was an important goal. Then the second goal was too, they were both power-play goals, so they were big goals for us."
On the team's strong offense tonight ... "You are not going to get five goals against that team very often. Maybe we got lucky, one was an empty-net goal. I am sure both goalies and both coaches think that there is a couple that they would like to get back."
U-M Junior Forward Derek DeBlois
On what the team improved on tonight ... "I think that as a team we have been playing a lot harder than we have all year. A little stronger defensively, a couple of bad breaks kind of hurt us. But today, we kept pushing and kept playing, and I think that was huge for us."
U-M Freshman Defenseman Jacob Trouba
On the importance of scoring first ... "I think getting up was big in this game, because I think in the past we have kind of got down after we have given up goals. To bounce back after giving up goals today was pretty big for us and just kind of staying up and playing as a team the whole time."
