Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "I think it's been a battle all year. You just can't blueprint or write down what you want to happen and make it happen. It's just like I told our players, 'It's not what happens to you, it's how you handle it.' We have handled it well. I think our team handled it well. We took a good step tonight."
On how the defense performed ..."It's a combination of everything. The defense played strong. Our goalie played strong. A couple of our forwards came back and saved sure goals, so it is a good team effort defensively."
On what a win tomorrow would mean ... "I am focusing on every game. We know that tonight's game doesn't really mean anything without tomorrow night's game. And tomorrow night's game is huge -- it really means a lot. But it means a lot to everybody in the league. Our games are going to influence their own situation and everyone else's. But our game, I think we have a little bit more control over our destiny."
U-M Junior Forward Derek DeBlois
On what it would mean to host at home next weekend ... "I think that is huge. We have obviously had our struggles, but I think we are playing our best hockey right now. Obviously, we have the best fans in the country and just playing at home would be tremendous."
On what has changed in the past couple of weeks ... "I think we are getting a total effort from everyone. Some games, like before, we had one line going and three were off. Now we've got four lines going, and that is huge for us going forward."
U-M Sophomore Forward Zach Hyman
On what it would mean to host at home next weekend ... "If we get the win tomorrow, that is four in a row, and we haven't done that all year. Having that going into the playoffs is going to be really big, especially at Yost. "
On what has changed in the past couple of weeks ... "I think we are just working harder, defensively and offensively. We played strong defensively, and Coach always preaches that. When you play this strong defensively, the offense just kind of comes, and you get bounces when you are working hard. I think that is what we've been doing."
