Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the game overall ... "It was a great game for the fans. It was heart-attack hockey for the coaches. I'm pleased that we won and I liked the way that we stayed with our focus. But let's face it; Shawn Hunwick had to keep us in that game. There were some glorious chances, particularly in the second period, and a couple in the third. He made the difference in that game."
On Shawn Hunwick's performance ... "Good for him. He's a warrior and he's done everything he can for this team and this program and there's another example tonight. We wouldn't have been in overtime if it weren't for Shawn Hunwick."
On the third line ... "Jeff Rohrkemper came in and played; that line didn't get a lot of ice, but they still ended up playing about 20 minutes in the game. Travis Lynch was strong on the draws; I think he only lost one faceoff the whole game. Rohrkemper was solid, and that line gave us the breather we needed."
U-M Senior Forward Luke Glendening
On refocusing going into overtime ... "I think we just kept our play simple, and that was huge for us. I think we had five shots in the third period, but our game just really changed. I think we played really simple, just getting pucks deep, back-checking, and that made all the difference. "
On the thrill of tonight's victory ... "Obviously it is a huge win, but we're not at the end yet. It's a three-game series so you have to enjoy while you can, but we have to get back to work tomorrow."
On Shawn Hunwick ... "It's frustrating we're not scoring on good chances, but I mean Shawn made huge saves for us that kept us in the game. He kind of stole that game for us I guess; he played outstanding. And yeah, we got one in overtime, but he made some huge saves throughout the game to keep it one-one."
U-M Junior Forward Chris Brown
On excitement of the game ... "It's huge. It's a really big victory where we can take that confidence and get that momentum going farther, not even just for the CCHA tournament but for the NCAA tournament as well. We've had many battles like that in the past where we had a double overtime and single overtime and lost a couple of them so now that we actually won one, it's kind of nice."
On being effective in overtime ... "I think it's just the work we've done off the ice as well. I think the conditioning we've had during the spring term then throughout the year. We always bring it up, it's that (Michigan) Stadium run. It always gets to us, we always remember that going into overtime. No other team runs the Stadium like we do. If we can get through that, we can get through anything."
