Junior forward Derek DeBlois scored his first goal and point of the season. His goal total is now eight in 68 career games played, seven of which have come since the start of the 2011-12 season (41 GP).
Junior defenseman Mac Bennett recorded his first goal, point and power-play point of the season. His career total moves to seven goals in 74 games played.
Freshman Jacob Trouba earned his first goal, assists and points as a Wolverine with one of each in the first period for a line of 1-1-2.
Sophomore Travis Lynch scored his first goal of the season, bringing his career totals to seven in 34 games played.
Michigan finished the night 5 for 5 on the penalty kill and 2 for 7 on the power play.
This is the second time in three years the Wolverines season opener went into overtime (2010-11, tied Mercyhurst, 4-4).
Michigan surrendered five goals, the most in a season opener since the Wolverines lost, 5-3, at Michigan State to begin the 1991-92 season and the most at home in a season opener since losing, 7-6, to Bowling Green State University in the 1987-88 opener.
Tonight's matchup was the first between Michigan and RIT in their history.
