Postgame Quotes: Nebraska-Omaha 3, #2 Michigan 2

Nov. 16, 2013

Recap |  Notes

Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the intensity of the game, against an old conference rival ... "It's hard-fought hockey. It's emotional hockey. Anything can happen, and you saw that tonight."

On Michigan's slow start to the game ... "I think we were a little rusty. We talked about that. We haven't played in two weeks. We weren't as good with the puck as they were, and you could see we weren't as sharp. We played hard, but we weren't as good with the puck. We got a lot better in the rest of the game."

On the play of JT Compher and Luke Moffatt and the game in general ... "I thought they played well. We had some good looks, and for the most part I liked our game. The penalties were a factor in the game. The last goal, on the 4-on-4, there was a little more room on the ice. We didn't take advantage of it, and they did."

U-M Senior Forward Luke Moffatt
On his productive night ... "Our line played well. We didn't get much time together because of all the (penalty kills) and (power plays) tonight. Our power play was really good; obviously, we converted on the two chances that we got out there. But we've got to work on our defense. We got out to a 2-1 lead, and you can't let teams back in the game."

On UNO's team speed and the game-winning goal ... "That's just a little detail mistake on us. They're a fast team, and we're a fast team. It's just a positioning mistake."

U-M Freshman Forward JT Compher
On the play of his line ... "I thought our line played well. It was hard to get a rhythm with me.(Alex) Guptill and (Derek) DeBlois; we're on the power play and penalty kill a lot. But when we were out there we cycled the puck well and got to the net, so it went well."

On the performance of Zach Nagelvoort ... "It's nice to have a dependable guy back there, but we've got to help him out more. There's a few mistakes that can't happen defensively, and we've got to be better and help him out."
