Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
His thoughts on the quick goals tonight ... "Well you don't plan it that way. When you give up two goals in seven seconds, that's unbelievable. That can't happen. And I can't tell you it was a great goal on their part or a bad play on our part, but it happened. That's what happens when you get pucks to the net. It was a pass to a guy and it went in off somebody. It was a scrambly play."
On the mental state of the team tonight ... "I thought our team battled hard. We battled hard in the game and I thought there were parts of the game where we were the better team and parts of the game where they were the better team. But that's what you're going to get every night."
On the success of Alaska's penalty-kill unit ... "They did a good job. We didn't get shots through, we got too many shots blocked and our power play ought to be able to score at least one out of four and it didn't happen. That was a big difference in the game. We got back in the game in the third period; we had our chances to tie it and it just didn't go in."
U-M Freshman Defenseman Brennan Serville
On what contributes to the quick goals against ... "I think sometimes we get too down on ourselves. Obviously we're in a slump. When things don't go our way we tend to lose momentum and lose confidence. "
On getting mentally back in the game after goals like that ... "You just have to come back hard. I honestly don't think that we played a bad game. We just have to continue what we're doing and sooner or later we'll get the breaks."
U-M Junior Forward Chris Brown
On how he thought the team played ... "I think teams are getting some lucky bounces and we're not getting the luck so much. We just need to play better. We have to win a game here soon."
On what the team needs to do to change the momentum in the middle of games... "Get ahead and stay ahead. It's as simple as that. When you get ahead make sure you play defensive-minded."
