FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Junior left wing Carl Hagelin (Sodertalje, Sweden) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday (Jan. 11). The alternate captain recorded a team-best two goals and three assists in Michigan's home-and-home series sweep against Western Michigan (Jan. 8-9).

All but one of his points came on Saturday (Jan. 9) at Yost Ice Arena where Hagelin led the Wolverines to a 6-1 victory over the Broncos in a career-high single-game effort (2-2-4). Hagelin's two goals on Saturday matched a career best and gave him the 18th multi-point game of his career. He finished the weekend with a plus-three rating. Hagelin opened the series with an assist on Michigan's first of four power-play goals in a narrow 4-3 victory at WMU on Friday (Jan. 8).

"It's important for me to just keep rolling. I have a lot of confidence right now and use that to improve every day," Hagelin said.

A Hobey Baker Memorial Award candidate, Hagelin currently leads the team with 25 points, 12 goals and 13 assists. The junior forward is also tied for the team lead in plus-minus (+8).

Michigan will look to improve upon its three-game winning streak next weekend (Jan. 15-16) with two home games against the Alaska Nanooks. Both games are slated to start at 7:35 p.m. at Yost Ice Arena with Friday's contest (Jan. 15) televised on FS Plus. Saturday's game (Jan. 16) will be available on Comcast.
