FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.-- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association named University of Michigan ice hockey forward David Wohlberg(South Lyon, Mich.) and defenseman Brandon Burlon(Nobleton, Ontario) to the CCHA All-Rookie Team on Monday (March 9).

In 24 CCHA contests, Burlon compiled a 4-9-13 line, which was the second-best point total among rookie defensemen in the league. Overall, he had five goals and nine assists with a +14 rating in 28 games-- he missed the first eight games of the season due to injury. His five goals, 33 blocked shots and five multi-point games led Michigan defensemen this season.

Wohlberg finished the season with an 11-12-23 line against CCHA opponents, placing him in a tie for the CCHA rookie scoring title with Notre Dame's Billy Maday. He ranks second among Wolverines in faceoff percentage (55 percent) and goals (13) while sitting third in points (13-15-28). After posting 2-6-8 totals in four games during December, the freshman earned Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Month and CCHA Rookie of the Month honors. In addition, Wohlberg's play garnered him CCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 8. Wohlberg has nine multi-point games on the season, including a pair of two-goal games and a pair of three-assist efforts.

Both Burlon and Wohlberg were drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, No. 52 overall (second round) and No. 172 overall (sixth round), respectively.

The other freshmen named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team include Miami goaltender Connor Knapp and defenseman Chris Wideman, OSU defenseman Matt Martkowski and forward Zac Dalpe, and Notre Dame's Maday.

The Wolverines kick off their postseason run at Yost Ice Arena this weekend (March 13-15) when they host the Western Michigan Broncos in the CCHA quarterfinals. Friday's contest is slated to start at 7:35 p.m. and will be televised by Comcast Local. Saturday's game will start at 7:05 p.m. on FSN Detroit. If needed, the two teams will play the deciding game on Sunday at 7:35 p.m.
