FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today (March 14) the top three finalists for its six major individual awards and University of Michigan defenseman Jacob Trouba (Rochester, Mich.) is up for two of those awards.
The freshman has been named a finalist for CCHA Rookie of the Year and for the league's Best Offensive Defenseman.
Trouba is fourth in the conference in scoring among freshmen and his seven goals and 18 points top all defensemen in the conference. He led all freshman defensemen in the nation in overall scoring in the regular season with nine goals and 23 points.
Trouba has also scored six power-play goals -- tied for first in the CCHA and fifth in the nation among freshmen.
Earlier this week, Trouba was named to the All-CCHA first team and the CCHA All-Rookie Team.
The 2013 CCHA Awards will be held on Friday, March 22, at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The event is open to the public and tickets are $25. The evening begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Awards Show at 7:35 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling the CCHA office at (248) 888-0600.
