The Wolverines will host 17 regular-season games at the newly renovated Yost Ice Arena, as well as two exhibition contests -- Oct. 9 vs. Windsor and Jan. 4 vs. USNTDP. The schedule also includes the 2012 Frozen Apple contest, a Nov. 24 game vs. Cornell University at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
Michigan will open the season with five straight home games, beginning with a two-game set against the Rochester Institute of Technology Oct. 11-12. The Wolverines will once again take part in the annual Great Lakes Invitational, which will be played outdoors for the first time in tournament history, Dec. 27-28 at Comerica Park in Detroit. The 2012 GLI will consist of perennial participants Michigan Tech and Michigan State, with Western Michigan earning the invitational spot.
The Wolverines will square off with all 10 CCHA opponents at least twice and will take on Michigan State, Western Michigan, Ferris State and Notre Dame four times (two home and two away). In addition to the regular-season schedule, Michigan will also serve as host for the NCAA West Regional, to be played March 29-31 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.
