ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Yost Ice Arena, home to the University of Michigan ice hockey team, will host an American Hockey League preseason game between the Lake Erie Monsters and Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. In addition to the AHL contest, Michigan will also hold its annual "Skate with the Wolverines" event following a Blue/White Alumni game.
The AHL is the top developmental league for the National Hockey League, with all 30 teams securing affiliations to NHL clubs. Lake Erie serves as the AHL affiliate to the Colorado Avalanche and the Griffins, which signed former Michigan captain Luke Glendening to an AHL contract during the offseason, hold that distinction for the Detroit Red Wings.
In conjunction with the AHL game, the Michigan ice hockey team will hold its annual "Skate with the Wolverines" event following the Blue/White Alumni game. The alumni exhibition will begin at 5 p.m., with "Skate with the Wolverines" scheduled to run from approximately 5:45-6:15 p.m.
Ticket information for the day's events will be released at a later date.
