FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today (Monday, Nov. 5) its Players of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4, 2012, honoring University of Michigan defenseman Mac Bennett (Narragansett, R.I.) as the Gladiator® Defenseman of the Week.
Bennett tallied four points (2g, 2a) in two games at Northern Michigan last week. On Friday night (Nov. 2), Bennett earned two points (1g, 1a) in Michigan's comeback shootout victory over the Wildcats, and he added two points (1g, 1a) in the loss on Saturday (Nov. 3). He ranked second overall, and first among defensemen, with seven shots on goal, and added one blocked shot in the series at NMU.
The 6-0, 193-pound defenseman ranks second on the Wolverines, and first among defensemen, with nine points (3g, 6a) in seven games this season. He leads the team in assists, blocked shots (13) and plus/minus rating (+8) while pacing blueliners with 19 shots on goal.
Michigan returns to action on Friday (Nov. 9) when the Michigan State Spartans make their first trip of the season to Yost Ice Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
