ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan hockey team will wear special Adidas game jerseys featuring a retro-inspired design for the "The Big Chill at the Big House," the outdoor hockey game between Michigan and Michigan State that is scheduled for Dec. 11 at Michigan Stadium. The design, which incorporates an image of a wolverine on the front and stripes on the shoulders, is similar to the one worn by the 1945-46, 1946-47 and 1947-48 teams. A patch featuring "The Big Chill at the Big House" event logo appears on the left chest. The player number is positioned on the back of the maize jersey with a second number placement on the sleeve.
"I think it's a great idea that we're using a throwback-style jersey," said head coach Red Berenson. "It gives our fans an idea of part of the history of the program and what the team looked like. I think our players will be excited to wear them."
Michigan fans can purchase replicas of the unique game jersey at any M-Den retail location, including Yost Ice Arena, or online at MGoBlue.com. Additional merchandise featuring designs commemorating this historic event are also available.
