Hunwick Tabbed National Offensive Player of the Week
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Sophomore defenseman Matt Hunwick (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was selected as U.S. College Hockey Online's Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday night (Dec. 14) as a result of his stellar performances against Bowling Green over the weekend (Dec. 10-11). Just one day earlier (Dec. 13), Hunwick earned the CCHA's Defenseman of the Week honor.

Hunwick started the weekend off with his first career hat trick on Friday (Dec. 10) at Yost Ice Arena. Two of his three tallies came on the power play as U-M overcame a 3-0 deficit to the Falcons to win 8-3. A night later at BGSU Ice Arena, Hunwick notched two assists to bring his weekend line to 3-2-5. His first assist came on the game-tying goal in the third period and his second assist came minutes later on the game-winning marker.

Hunwick leads all U-M defenseman in power-play points with two goals and four assists for six points. Overall, his 4-7-11 season scoring line is second on the team among blue-liners.

The USCHO Offensive Player of the Week award is Hunwick's first national honor. His CCHA Defenseman of the Week laurel was also a first. Hunwick is the second Wolverine in as many weeks to earn an award from U.S. College Hockey Online.
