Teams are awarded three points for each win in regulation or overtime, and one point for an overtime tie. Conference games tied after 65 minutes advance to a three-player shootout with the winning team receiving an extra point in the standings (denoted in the SW column).

CCHA Tiebreaker System
(for use in determining seeding for the CCHA Tournament)

  1. Conference wins
  2. Best regular-season winning percentage against the other team(s) tied for position
  3. Total goals for and against each team in contests between (among) teams tied for position in regular-season play.
  4. Best winning percentage of the teams tied for position against the remaining highest-ranked CCHA teams
  5. Coin toss

Note: Shootout results will not be used to break ties in the standings for playoff positioning.

Top 5 regular-season finishers receive byes during the first round
No. 11 seed Bowling Green at No. 6 seed Northern Michigan (BGSU, 2-1)
No. 10 seed Alaska at No. 7 seed Lake Superior State (LSSU, 2-0)
No. 9 seed Ohio State at No. 8 seed Notre Dame (ND, 2-0)

Quarterfinal Round - Campus Sites - (Best-of-three series, March 9-11)
Teams will be re-seeded following first round
No. 8 seed Bowling Green at No. 1 seed Ferris State (BGSU, 2-1)
No. 7 seed Notre Dame at No. 2 seed Michigan (U-M, 2-0)
No. 6 seed Lake Superior State at No. 3 seed Western Michigan (WMU, 2-0)
No. 5 seed Michigan State at No. 4 seed Miami (Miami, 2-0)

CCHA Championship Weekend - Joe Louis Arena - (single elimination, March 16-17)
Teams will be re-seeded following quarterfinal round
