Feb. 28 -- Canada's Sidney Crosby scored 7:40 into overtime to hand Team USA its first loss of the Olympics, 3-2, in a gold-medal game that lived up to its billing. Jack Johnson, who had one shot on goal and was on the ice for 23:27 minutes, became the first U-M hockey player to earn an Olympic medal since David Harlock (Canada) won silver in 1994. He is the first Wolverine to medal with Team USA in more than 50 years, since Willard Ikola and John Matchefts earned silvers in 1956.
Feb. 26 -- Team USA scored six times in the game's first 13 minutes and prevailed 6-1 over Finland in the semifinal round, assuring the Americans of a medal. Jack Johnson was on the ice for the USA's third goal, scored by Erik Johnson, and logged a team-high 21:15 of ice time. Team USA will face Canada, a 3-2 semifinal winner over Slovakia, in Sunday's gold-medal game.
Feb. 24 -- Switzerland held Team USA scoreless for two periods, but Zach Parise scored 2:08 into the third period and added an empty-net goal late in the Americans' 2-0 quarterfinal victory. Defenseman Jack Johnson was on the ice for 19:42 minutes and helped limit the Swiss to 19 shots on goal. Team USA will face Finland, a 2-0 quarterfinal winner over the Czech Republic, in the semifinal round Friday.
Feb. 21 -- With Jack Johnson logging a team-high 21:58 minutes on the ice, the Team USA defense withstood a 45-22 shots-on-goal deficit to earn a big 5-3 victory over host Canada. The win gave the Americans a sweep of the Group A round robin and a bye into the quarterfinals, where they will face the Switzerland-Belarus winner.
Feb. 18 -- Jack Johnson assisted on Ryan Malone's third-period goal in Team USA's 6-1 blowout of Norway. Johnson, who also was on the ice when Chris Drury put the Americans up 2-0 13:04 into the first period, finished with a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal and two penalty minutes in 16:27 of ice time.
Feb. 16 -- Team USA opened Olympics action with a 3-1 win over Switzerland in Group A. Jack Johnson, who logged 16:56 of ice time and a plus-1 rating, was on the ice for the American's first goal, by Bobby Ryan with 1:01 left in the first period.
