CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Chase Brown (Severna Park, Md./Severn) of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has been named ECAC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday (April 1). Brown collects the honor coming off his four ground ball pickups and trio of caused turnovers in a 10-6 defeat against the Air Force Falcons Saturday (March 30).
Brown, a long-stick midfielder by trade, is second on the team in ground balls with 21, and he leads the team in caused turnovers with 11 as a true freshman. He has at least one ground ball in eight of the nine contests he has played in this season and has caused seven turnovers in the past three games.
He is the third U-M player this season to garner such an honor and fourth all-time. Classmates Gerald Logan (Shoreham, N.Y./The Hotchkiss School) and Kyle Jackson (Sarnia, Ontario/The Hill School) took home Rookie of the Week honors on March 4 and March 11, respectively.
Michigan hits the road after a two-game homestand next Saturday (April 6), traveling to Newark, Del., to take on the Delaware Blue Hens from Delaware Stadium. The contest is slated for a noon start.
